ENTRANCE / ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Programs of Thirteen hundred fifty (1350) or more clock hours or the credit hour equivalent shall administer a basic skills examination to each student who enrolls, unless the student has provided evidence of a high school graduation diploma, general equivalency diploma, or its equivalent.
A complete physical health form must be submitted to the Campus Director. Final acceptance to the program will be contingent upon payment of fees, the results of the medical form and verification of high school completion. • The applicant will be informed of the admissions decision once all requirements have been met.
✔ Be a U.S. citizen or provide valid documentation of eligible non-citizenship status
✔ Provide proof of completion of high school, GED or equivalent. Students with foreign high-school diplomas are responsible for providing a translation and/or equivalency certification
✔ Be 18 years of age or older and submit a valid picture ID and social security card

✔ Obtain or sign a declination for the Hepatitis B Vaccine
✔ Background check (some employers may require a criminal background check)

✔ Applicants for the Practical Nursing program must take and pass the TEAS test with a minimum passing score of 50%.

The objective of the program is to prepare students for employment as licensed practical nurses to care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes in other health care settings.
The program’s content includes, but is not limited to, theoretical instruction and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetric, gynecology, pediatric, and geriatric nursing; theoretical instruction and clinical experience in acute, care, long term care and community settings; theoretical instruction and clinical application of vocational role and function; personal, family and community health concepts; nutrition; human growth and development over the life span; body structure and function; interpersonal relationship skills, pharmacology and administration of medications; legal aspects of practice; and current issues in nursing.
Medical Surgical Nursing II continues to address disorders while incorporating concepts from previous courses. This course focuses on deviations of health in adults.
Student will learn how the nursing process guides the holistic care of the individual. The body systems included in this course are: Sensory: Neurology; Digestive; Endocrine; Urinary; Reproductive and Oncology. Advanced Adult Medical Surgical Clinical is a continuation of the utilization of the nursing process in caring for acute care patients. The student will care for multiple patients during this clinical rotation. The emphasis will be on prioritization, decision- making, time management and critical thinking appropriate to the LPN’s scope of practice. As the student progresses, more complex patient situations will be presented, and they will begin to function in a role independent of the instructor.
