GSN Practical Nursing program will prepares you to participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care in hospitals Nursing Homes and extended care facilities. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of nursing. these are the basic principles on which nursing is founded. These fundamentals include patient assessment, communication and intervention. It is essential for nurses to start with these fundamentals when pursuing their education to ensure quality and patient-centered care.

Practical Nursing

Practical Nurses are trained to perform both simple and complex treatments. They help care for sick, injured and handicapped people in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices and private homes. PNs work under the direction of doctors and registered nurses, provide bedside patient care and help examine and treat patients. They bathe, dress, feed patients and record their food and liquid intake and output. PNs give medication, observe patients and report adverse reactions to medicine

Nursing Assistant

A Certified nursing assistant, also known as a nurse assistant or CNA, provides health care for clients and patients at home, hospitals, Nursing Homes, and other facilities under the direction of a nurse. They often help people under their care perform day-to-day tasks. A CNA or certified nursing assistant is an important position in any Health Care setting. CNAs have many responsibilities that make them an integral part of the patient process in healthcare. While being a CNA is often considered an entry-level position.

Phlebotomy Technician

(Grace School of Nursing Phlebotomy program is a certificate program which prepares students for employment as phlebotomists. Students learn skills including effective performance in obtaining adequate and correct blood specimens by capillary or venipuncture; Phlebotomists primarily draw blood, which is then used for different kinds of medical laboratory testing. In medical and diagnostic laboratories, patient interaction is sometimes only with the phlebotomist)
EKG

Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG)

Through the EKG Technician Program, you are eligible for the EKG Technician (CET) Certification. Certification candidates must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Upon completion of this program, students wishing to sit for the Certified EKG Technician exam will be required to complete a minimum of 10 EKGs on a live person. Pacific Union College cannot guarantee a site to complete this clinical requirement, so only students employed in a healthcare facility or those that take full responsibility for meeting their clinical requirements will be admitted to the program. The CET certification ensures that you are ready to excel as an EKG Technician.
IV THERAPY

IV Therapy

IV therapy is an integral part of many patients’ daily treatment. It is an effective way of administering medication rapidly in emergencies where the drug will need to be infused into the bloodstream directly. It is also ideal for dispensing medication gradually in controlled quantities for most patients. Alternatively, it can also be used to replenish nutrition and vitamin deficiencies in patients who may be bedridden and physically unable to consume food. Therefore, every nurse, who works in an acute inpatient setting, will have to be skillful in IV therapy to perform this procedure seamlessly.

Patient care Technician

Medical assistants are health care professionals who assist doctors in clinics, medical offices, and hospitals. They may show you to the exam room, take your vital signs, and check your height and weight. Medical assistants will ask about your symptoms and health concerns, and pass that information on to your doctor.

A medical assistant might do administrative tasks like: Answering phones and scheduling appointments Greeting patients and their families Filing and updating medical records Coding and completing insurance forms Making arrangements for a hospital visit or laboratory test Handling billing, bookkeeping, and general office mail

Home Health Aide

As a home health aide, you’ll engage in a variety of tasks that center around providing personal care and health-related services to patients who are unable to perform these tasks for themselves. You may also jump in to help with clients’ household chores, including laundry, light cleaning, and meal preparation. Registered nurses and/or social workers typically oversee and supervise the work of home health aides.

Patient Care Assistant (PCA)

A Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is a professional who assists the elderly, disabled or people in recovery with performing day-to-day activities. For example, they help with household chores, hygiene and mobility support.

The Patient Care Assistant diploma program at Grace School of Nursing prepares students with classroom training and practice as well as the clinical experiences to perform a full range of patient care duties or services under nursing or medical direction. They typically work alongside, nurses, CNA'S and other medical professionals to deliver and ensure quality patient care.
